About the Trip

DAY 1 (June 10): Departure from the Bement School to New York; Fly from New York (USA) to Shanghai (China)

DAY 2 (June 11): Arrive in Shanghai; VIP group reception, check-in hotel

DAY 3 (June 12): Visit Shanghai Pudong New Area; Lujiazui financial center; APEC international center sites; the Oriental Pearl TV Tower (the 3rd highest tower in the world); Jinmao Building; Afternoon visit Shanghai Yangtze River Tunnel and Bridge; Shopping at Chenghuang Temple Business Street and Nanjing Road; Dinner with local specialties; Evening bus to Hangzhou

DAY 4 (June 13): Morning visit West Lake scenery zone: Fish Viewing at the Flower Pond; Tree Ponds Mirroring the Moon; Flower Park; Peacock sites, etc; Afternoon visit Linyin Temple: secret flying mountain; After dinner Song Dynasty Tourism “give me one day, return you a thousand year”

DAY 5 (June 14): Morning visit Wuzhen (a historic scenic town in south China); Afternoon back to Hangzhou; Evening, overnight train to Beijing

DAY 6(June 15): Exchange program with Beijing Xu Beihong Academy, lunch at school, together with Chinese students; Afternoon exchange program activities in Tao Ran Park (learn Chinese langauge, culture and art)

DAY 7(June 16): Visit the Great Wall of China (one of the world’s 8 wonders), site Ba Da Ling; Visit the Ming dynasty tombs, Chang Ling mausoleums, stone figures and horses in front of the grave, walking on the Spirit Way (Shen Lu Street)

DAY 8(June 17): Visit the Tian An Men Square (the world’s biggest public square); Visit the Forbidden City (royal palace); Shopping at Qianmen (a well-known ancient shopping street) with assigned Chinese partners; Free activities; Dinner Beijing Duck (Beijing cuisine specialty); Evening to see Chinese acrobatic show

DAY 9(June 18): Visit Beijing Zoo, to see the lovely Pandas (first class national protected animal) and many more other animals; Visit Beijing Hutongs (narrow alley) and local people’s houses; Rickshaws tour; After dinner, overnight train to Xi’an (sight seeing along the way)

DAY 10(June 19): Morning arrive in Xi An, visit the Emperor Qin’s Terra-cotta Army (one of the world’s 8 wonders), turnnel No. 1, 2, 3; and the copper carriage (reappears the magnificent of Qin military formation with breath-taking grandeur); Afternoon visit the Li Shan Park and Taoism temples; Free shopping in Xi’an downtown ancient business market; Dinner at De Fa Chang Chinese dumpling restaurant (enjoy all kinds of tasty dumplings); After dinner, Tang Dynasty music and dance perfprmance

DAY 11(June 20): Morning visit Shanxi History Museum (one of the first huge state museums with modern facilities in China); Visit Stele Forest (museum for steles ans stone sculptures); Afternoon visit the Ming Great Wall; the Wild Gooses Pagoda and North Square Music Fountain (the greatest of Asia); After dinner, train to Beijing

DAY 12 (June 21): Morning arrive in Beijing, check-in hotel and rest; Afternoon visit the Chinese National Stadium (Bird Nest) and National Aquatics Center; Visit the Summer Palace (to see the painting illustrations in Long Corridor, to listen the Chinese myth stories and walk to fragrant pavillion); Visit the Wo Fo Temple (to see the big Buddha statue); Evening to see Chinese Opera performance at Temple of Heaven Theater, test Beijing’s characteristic snacks

DAY 13 (June 22): Visit Beihai Park (an imperial garden to the northwest of the Forbidden City): Nine dragon wall; ride on boat; Afternoon shopping in Xidan modern business street

DAY 14 (June 23): Exchange program with Beijing Xu Beihong Acadmey; present-exchange and take photos; Afternoon visit some key middle and high schools in Beijing; Evening fly to Shanghai

DAY 15 (June 24): Transfer to Shanghai Pudong International Airport; Fly from Shanghai (China) to New York (USA); Arrive at Bement in June 24 evening
